The Department of Water Resources (formerly the Irrigation Department) has a brilliant history of 7 years. The state of Maharashtra was created in 1949 before the partition of Bombay in Maharashtra and Gujarat. In 1949, the Department of Public Works was divided into the Department of Irrigation and the Department of Buildings and Roads. As of October 1, the irrigation service has been designated “Department of Water Resources”.
